Brief Biography

Tania Velez was an undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Biochemistry. She performed undergraduate research with Prof. Scott K. Silverman. After graduation, she entered the Graduate Program in Life Sciences at Northwestern University.

Research Interests

My research in the Silverman Lab examined the importance of random region length on DNA catalysis. I also sought deoxyribozymes that catalyze reactions at lysine side chains.
