Brief Biography

Maria Perakis is currently an undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. In Summer 2024, she performed undergraduate research as a Snyder Scholar in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under the supervision of Prof. Scott K. Silverman.

Research Interests

In my research project, I identified and characterized DNAzymes that alkylate DNA and RNA oligonucleotide nucleobases by reductive amination.
